Lindsay Shilling

Lindsay began his musical career with his hometown brass band, Chatteris. In 1977, he was awarded as Associated Board Scholarship, which enabled him to study at the Royal College of Music with John Iveson and Arthur Wilson. After gaining an ARCM and leaving the college, he began to work with the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the London symphony orchestras.

In 1994, he joined the section of the London Symphony Orchestra and later in 1997, left after being appointed as principal with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

After seven years he moved to his current principal position with the Royal Opera House, where he has more time to teach at the Royal College of Music.


Richard Edwards

A long standing member with LB, Richard is one of the UK's most versatile trombonists, happy in any genre of music, from contemporary music with ensembles such as the London Sinfonietta through to Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra plus film scores such as: Interstellar, Guardians of the Galaxy and Skyfall.

He is also an all round musical talent and has produced some of the group's most popular arrangements, including The Chicken, Blackbird and Skyfall.

Richard has been a professor at the Royal College of Music for many years..
