Lindsay Shilling

Lindsay began his musical career with his hometown brass band, Chatteris. In 1977, he was awarded as Associated Board Scholarship, which enabled him to study at the Royal College of Music with John Iveson and Arthur Wilson. After gaining an ARCM and leaving the college, he began to work with the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and the London symphony orchestras.

In 1994, he joined the section of the London Symphony Orchestra and later in 1997, left after being appointed as principal with the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

After seven years he moved to his current principal position with the Royal Opera House, where he has more time to teach at the Royal College of Music.
